She's just a little girl at heart,
Quick to shed her sunny smile
And quick to lose her innocence.
She's just a child still at heart,
Quick to laugh in the light way that children have
And quick to cry in the silent way of the one who knows sorrow like a friend.
She wants to be a little girl at heart,
But her red blood stains the snow-white sheets.
Her virgin body torn and bruised, she weeps out her pain.
They ask questions but fear keeps her mouth shut,
She's weak and her nights are sleepless but fear keeps her eyelids up.
Her innocence is evanescent like a shining soap bubble
Blown away and shattered on his harsh hands.
They don't know what she's gone through,
And her heart floods the world in tears.
She learns over the long and cruel years
She learns to let time dry her tears,
And in the face of such cruelty,
She finds happiness in fragile moments,
In friendships to last till the end of time,
And in a love deeper and truer than words.
